Elizabeth (Liz) Thomas-Hollier is an accomplished financial leader, business strategist, and entrepreneur. Her insightful, candid perspective is the hallmark of her leadership style, setting apart her collaborative consulting and creative thinking skills.

 

With over 20 years of experience in the public sector, Liz possesses deep financial planning and forecasting, complex problem-solving, and process improvement expertise. In her current role as Business Program Manager for Mecklenburg County, Liz leads a multi-disciplinary team and has financial oversight of over $90MM in fees which fuel the storm water infrastructure for the city of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, and surrounding towns. Prior to joining Mecklenburg County, Liz managed the office of an elected official for San Bernardino County in San Bernardino, CA. There she analyzed a $1.9B budget to determine its impact on various county departments, supervisorial districts, and the county.

 

In 1996, Liz flexed her entrepreneurial muscle and created In Your Business, Inc.  As business owner and strategist, she consults with a diverse range of individuals and small business owners on tax planning and issues.  Further, she advises small businesses on tax law compliance and business entity structure.

 

Liz holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from San Diego State University and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Redlands University in Redlands, CA.  She also earned a Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt) certification from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC.

 

Leveraging her business, leadership, and entrepreneurial expertise outside of the professional arena, Liz is actively involved in the community. Recently spotlighted by the Women’s Impact Fund (WIF) during Black Philanthropy Month for her personal philanthropy, Liz serves as WIF’s Art and Culture Grants Co-Chair and a member of the Equity and Inclusion Task Force.  She holds various leadership roles in the Crown Jewels (NC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, chairing its Communications Committee and The Arts Facet.  Liz led the Crown Jewel’s breast health campaign in partnership with Susan G. Komen to raise funds for life-saving mammograms for women of color. She also mentors young women through the Women’s Intercultural Exchange. Previously, Liz participated with the North Carolina Local Government Budget Association and the Association of Governmental Accountants. During her service in California, she was appointed Commissioner of the Housing Authority of San Bernardino.

 

Married to Warren Hollier for 15 years, Liz enjoys traveling with her husband and spending time with their favorite Golden Doodle, Kobe. A self-described “want to be” foodie, she also loves reading, appreciates the arts, and dabbles in photography.
