CSL Secures Key Funding from $3.6 Million Workforce Development Grant Approved by City Council

We are thrilled to announce that City Startup Labs has been selected as one of the recipients of a substantial workforce development grant, part of the $3.6 million in funds unanimously approved by the city council. This decision represents a significant investment in Charlotte’s future, reinforcing a commitment to empowering local residents and businesses.

Mayor Vi Lyles expressed the city’s enthusiasm for the initiative: “We are thrilled to announce the approval of these substantial grant funds for workforce development. Workforce development is a strategic priority for this council, and this investment reflects our dedication to creating a vibrant and inclusive economy where all residents have the opportunity to thrive.”

The approved grants will be distributed to a diverse range of organizations dedicated to providing essential training programs, career navigation services, and supportive resources to job seekers in Charlotte. This funding will directly benefit over 500 individuals aiming to improve their employability, as well as businesses seeking to strengthen their workforce.

In addition to City Startup Labs, other grant recipients include Road to Hire, Charlotte Works, and Gener8tor Management. Danielle Frazier, special assistant to the city manager, emphasized the importance of these partnerships: “Our city is only as strong as its workforce. By partnering with local organizations, we aim to equip our community with the skills and resources needed for success. Providing these grants will allow the city to reach even more individuals who are eager to advance their careers and contribute meaningfully to our local economy. We are grateful to the city council for its shared vision and support.”

The grants, funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), will enable City Startup Labs to expand its programs and support even more aspiring entrepreneurs and job seekers in the community. Programming is set to begin this spring, and we look forward to making a meaningful impact on Charlotte’s workforce development landscape.

Stay tuned for more updates as we embark on this exciting journey of growth and empowerment. Thank you for your continued support!
